Biography

Mr. Alm is a native of the Syracuse area.  After studying History and Sociology as an undergraduate at Binghamton University, he went on to receive his Master's degree in teaching Social Studies at Fordham University.  He began his career at The Beacon School, a small public magnet school in Manhattan.  From there, he went on to teach Social Studies and become the Assistant Principal at Pearl River High School.  He is a strong believer in the power of small schools, the arts, technology, and public education.  He is currently "all but dissertation" at Columbia Teacher's College.  He resides in Rockland County, NY with his wife and two children.

Haldane Welcomes Virtual High School for 2010-2011
The Add deadline for VHS is Friday September 10th.  Have you considered taking a VHS "net-course?"  You can browse the online course catalog here, read the description in our course catalog, or talk to Mr. Alm or Mrs. Sautner to learn more about VHS.  VHS courses will be open to Juniors and Seniors who complete the necessary steps outlined on the course registration form.

The H.E.A.R.T. Program  runs every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the year from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in room H110.  All students are welcome to attend for extra help in any subject.  Don't forget that in addition to H.E.A.R.T., extra help is available from individual teachers during 10th period by appointment.
